Temperature ratings: Comfort -5C, Low -10C
The Softie Chrysalis range of sleeping bags feature an expanding zip baffle system which can be opened out to give much more room within the bag. The extra space allows more air flow, keeping the bag cooler. This temperature management system gives the bag more flexibility – if the temperature drops you zip the sleeping bag tighter and instantly boost the thermal performance.
This range also features ‘kid clips’ to prevent children sliding to the bottom of the bag.
The key features of the Chrysalis Autumn are:
· 3 season usage
· Chrysalis baffle system
· Variable length system
· Unique rolling system
· Chisel foot design (for extra room)
· Paratex light* and micro** fabrics
· Softie*** filling and Reflectatherm****
· Pack size (fully compressed) 19 x 21 cm
· Weight 1600g (including compression stuff sack)
Temperature ratings assume you will be sleeping lightly clothed (thermal base layer or pyjamas) within a tent on a good quality sleep mat. There are many variables involved in a good nights sleep, not least fitness and metabolism. When choosing a Snugpak sleeping bag be guided by the comfort figures.
*Paratex light is a lightweight, highly windproof water repellent fabric which is exceptionally breathable and able to wick moisture away from the source.
**Paratex micro is a ripstop sleeping bag casing fabric which is exceptionally tough but as breathable as Paratex light.
***`Softie’ is the brand name for the polyester filling used for the Softie range of sleeping bags. It uses superfine yarns bound with special resins to produce a luxurious down-like feel. A mixture of yarn processes are used to give a random effect – some are curled, some crimped and some are just left as they are. The random nature of the process results in a product that closely resembles the structure and performance of natural down. Softie is easy to care for, washable, yet still retains a proportion of its thermal properties when wet.
****Reflectatherm is a metallised fabric designed to reflect heat and retain warmth. It is a highly breathable material which adds little to the weight or packsize of the sleeping bag. It provides at least 15% additional warmth and is undetectable by touch.
